After Lewis Infectious and Nick Contagious stumbled across paths in early 2005 they decided to form a band. There was however two small problems. Lewis couldn't play bass and they couldn't find a drummer. Later in the year the two hooligans made the acquaintance of a young man affectionately known among some as Crust.

Together the trio formed Juvenile Delinquents, with Nick singing and playing guitar, Lewis on bass and Crust on drums. This venture hardly got off the ground before Crust's brother Smack replaced Crust on drums, allowing him to fill his natural role of guitar and vocals.

Subverts are an anarcho-punk band from Sydney, Australia, with a strong and growing crust influence. Forming in late 2005 as a trio briefly known as Juvenile Delinquents with Nick (guitar), Lewis (bass) and Luke (drums). Shortly after, Luke¡¯s previous band Infested Perception, in which he played guitar and his brother Smack played drums, dissolved together with Juvenile Delinquents to form the Subverts with Smack joining on drums, freeing Luke to move back to his preferred position of guitar. The song ¡®Liar¡¯ which the Subverts play today, was originally an Infested Perception song.

In early 2006, Luke¡¯s good friend Des - also of Cartoon Violence - was asked to join the band on drums, to replace Smack. The addition of Des to the band led to a faster band with more progressive guitar riffs and lyrics.

It was with this line-up that the band played their first show at Minto PCYC in February 2006. Since then the Subverts have played with numerous Australian crust, hardcore, and ska bands and several benefit and politically based shows. These include Smash the State (Lake Cowall benefit), Renegade Parade, a Russian anti-fascist benefit show and a Food Not Bombs benefit show at Jura, anarchist bookshop.

In September of 2006 Des left the band. Subverts played a show at Jura Books as a 3-peice for a one off, not wanting to drop off the line-up at the last minute with Luke playing drums. The hilarity of this attempt left the band looking for a new drummer. Jac answered this call in January 2007, playing her first show with the band in March 2007
